The Age/ Weight
factor:
Age: There is no doubt
that as we grow older, our ability to absorb nutrients gets
less. Cells become less efficient at absorbing needed
nutrients.
Weight: On top of this,
excess body weight (fat) seems to aggravate the process.
Witness the research that points out the potential effects of consuming
food that was "designed" rather than naturally occurring food. (see
newsletter No 2.) Junk oils coating the cell walls making them
largely unable to utilise
nutrients.
If you accept
this, then it is easy to understand why, as we get older, it is so
important to boost the intake of any nutrients that may be in short
supply.. Especially ones that are already known to be deficient in
most of our
diets.
This problem can
be overcome with a combination of avoiding the wrong foods and adding
extra of the missing bits to our
diets
![]() Genetic Factors: Many
people consider that genetics play a large factor as well. Quite
probably. But to be sure of this it would be necessary to
remove the influence of family.
Family must have a big influence, for it is
family that sets eating habits and indeed, builds the body.
Just as in education, family attitude to food, plays a huge role in
deciding what sorts of food that we are accustomed to. While
most people can change these habits, often it takes a big fright
to even make the subject worthy of our
time
